Seachtain na Gaeilge a great success!!

“Tír gan teanga, tír gan anam”

(A country without a language is a country without a soul)

Once again Seachtain na Gaeilge was a huge success. D’éagraigh Roinn na Gaeilge go leor i mbliana chun Seachtain na Gaeilge a chéiliúradh . Idir ranganna spraoi, ceol ‘s craic, bhí seachtain den scoth ag gach duine, daltaí agus gan dabht na múinteoirí chomh maith.

Ba é an bhuaicphointe a bhí againn i mbliana ná an cómortas X-Factor. Bhí atmaisféar iontach sa scoil agus bhí gach duine ar bís. Bhí iomaitheoirí cáiliúil againn ar nós Kelly Rowland (Ms Hanley), Simon Cowell (Mr. Kenny), Cherly Cole (Ms. Murphy). Ghlac an-chuid de na daltaí páirt agus bhí an comortás gan sarú. Ba chríoch an mhaith é le Seachtain na Gaeilge 2012.

Na buaiteoirí

Sa chéad áit, bhí Lauren Ryan agus Anna Leonard ag damhsa

Sa dara áit, bhí Emma Hanley ag canadh

Sa tríú háit , bhí Shea Dunworth ag seinm an banjó

Tá an scoil ar fad ag súil leis an mbliain seo chugainn, agus tá gach cuma ar an scéal go bhfuil roinnt múinteoirí ag obair go dian dícheallach  mar a scríobhtar an phíosa seo!!!

Mar a deir an seanfhocal  “ Is fearr Gaeilge briste ná Béarla cliste”

Green light for new campus for Coláiste Chiaráin

Minister for Education and Skills, Mr. Ruairi Quinn, TD, has announced details of 219 new school building projects. The new schools will be built as part of a €1.5bn programme. The plan sees the construction of 106 new primary schools, 43 new secondary schools and eight special schools. There will be extensions to 65 primary schools, 49 secondary schools and four special schools.

The great news for us is that the plan includes confirmation that our new school will go to construction in 2013. The new school will be built for 1,000 students and will be the largest second level building project ever, in Limerick city and county. This week, the Design Team has been appointed and work is well under way to have this work completed by next October.

Please note, the announcement, as published on the Department of Education and Skills website, inadvertently and in error, referred to our new school campus, as an “extension”. This mistake has been addressed and will be amended accordingly.

I am issuing this statement to avoid any confusion.

This is an exciting time for us all and I am looking forward to working with all our partners to bring the new school to realization next year, our seventy-fifth anniversary.
