Buon Natale!!

Yesterday the Italian department organised a Christmas party for Form II and Form IV students where everyone was able to try 'Pandoro', the typical Italian Christmas cake and sing some Italian christmas carols. The party was a huge success and all the students tasted a little bit of an Italian Christmas.

Mr. Moretti and Ms. O'Brien would like to thank all those students who have helped out and wish everyone: Buon Natale!

Rotary Youth Leadership 2011

Interviews for the Rotary Youth Leadership competition took place on 11/11/11. The program
aims to identify and support young people who demonstrate leadership qualities. Six students took part in the school interviews to determine who will represent the school at the club final Monday at the Strand Hotel, Limerick.
The interview panel from the Limerick Thomond Rotary club where extremely impressed by the candidates who did the school proud. The six candidates were:
Aoife Costello, Brian Gabbett McNamara, Janet O'Carroll, Sarah O'Farrell, Maria Power & Alexander Storey-Cosgrave.
There was very little to choose between the candidates but Alexander Story-Cosgrave narrowly edged out the others. He will compete in the club final on Monday and if successful go on to compete in the regional final at the Greenhills Limerick on Wednesday 16th.
If successful at the area final Alex will be jetting off to the European Parliament Strasbourg to take part in the Euroscola Programme early next year. The winners debate major EU issues in the European Parliament Building with 600 other students from most countries across the European Union. The winners, representing Rotary International in Ireland at Euroscola Day in Strasbourg, will be making new friends, experiencing challenges and having plenty of fun throughout the LDP Week.
The competition runs every year so be sure to contact Mr. Power if you wish to enter next year. Rotary is an organisation that aims to bring together business and professional leaders to provide humanitarian service, encourage high ethical standards in all vocations, and help build goodwill and peace in the world.

Special thanks once again to Mr. Fergus Quinlivan and Mr. Tony Brazil who facilitated the schools entry to the competition.
