FAI Coaching Course


Congratulations to all transition year students who have just completed the FAI safeguard 1 child protection training course. This group of students have now completed their Kick start 1 coaching badge and the Safeguard 1 certificate

This initiative has been a joint project between the FAI and Coláiste Chiaráin. Special thanks to Mr. Jason O'Connor, FAI development officer for Limerick city, for working closely with the school on this excellent partnership.



Mental Health Week is next week and Limerick Mental Health Association are delighted to announce that Colaiste Chiarain will host a Rural Isolation talk on "Crime prevention and Mental Health" in the school hall on Monday October 9th at 7.30pm. All welcome.

Congratulations to Form II pupil Deborah Koumah who is making a mark for herself in the music industry. She is part of the group Brightraay whose album"Intimacy" is available to download on Spotify and iTunes. We are truly honoured to have Deborah in our school and we wish her and her album every success!!

Transition Year Orchestra Project


Congratulations to Transition Year pupil Jacob Butler who has been accepted into the “Transition Year Orchestra Project” in the Cork School of Music, UCC. Thirty Transition Year students from around the country will study with conductor Conor Pallister and perform a concert at the end of the session.

 Jacob is a very talented double bassist. He is currently studying for his grade 7 examination with the Cork School of Music under the tuition of David Whitla. We wish him the very best of luck and we are delighted with his success!



 Coláiste Chiaráin Transition Year students participated in an orienteering challenge in Ballyhoura last Thursday. Mr. James Galvin, Transition Year Co-ordinator, set out a challenging 10km loop on the Ballinaboola section of the Ballyhoura range. Up to one hundred and twenty Transition Year students participated in the challenge.

In groups, they had to find 10 riddles hidden around the demanding circuit. The teachers that accompanied with the group were Mr. James Galvin, Ms. Edel Farrell (Year Head) and their class tutors Mr. Joe White, Ms. Fidelma Power and Ms. Sarah Martinez. The students successfully completed the 10km course and everyone really enjoyed the day out.
