Impressive win for under 19 soccer team.

Coláiste Chiaráin   6

Glenstal Abbey      1

Our under 19 boys soccer team continued their winning start to the season against a resolute Glenstal Abbey side this afternoon in Annacotty.  Encouraged by their hard-fought opening round win against St. Caimin’s last week, the Croom lads took control of this game from the start and dominated in every area of the field. The opening goal came from the head of vice-captain Jimmy Leslie and the lead was doubled a few minutes later by the industrious AJ Moloney. Playmaker and man of the match Jamie Greaves made it three shortly before half time and in spite of an opportune goal from Glenstal in the 42 minute, our lads led 3-1 at half time. Three second half goals from Gearoid Lynch, captain Alan Kiely and Cameron Chu respectively resulted in an impressive 6-1 win for Croom. This win guarantees the lads will finish top of their group and qualify for the knock-out stages of the FAI Munster Under 19 cup.

A tough game away to Pallaskenry in the opening round of the North Munster Schools is next up on Tuesday. Coláiste Chiaráin are defending champions in this competition and the players will be eager to continue their winning ways. Well done lads.
